MANUSCRIPT EVALUATION

If you're not ready for a full, in-depth edit, then a manuscript evaluation may suit you better. This is comparable to beta-reading in style—however, it is much more detailed.

What I will do is I will read your manuscript, and I will compile a detailed report. This averages at around ten pages. In this report, I will comment on structure, narrative, plot and character development, as well as style and readability. Each point will be supported with reference to the manuscript, and I will comment directly onto the manuscript to highlight particular areas that I think need attention—or are particularly outstanding! I'll offer suggestions for changes and improvements moving forward, considering the manuscript as a whole. What I will not do is make changes to the manuscript itself. This service is particularly targeted at fiction manuscripts, though I may be able to work with non-fiction depending on the content and purpose. 

For this service, I charge £0.0025/word. This works out to £2.50/1000 words. The time required for a project will vary depending on the length and the rest of my workload, and this can be discussed during a consultation. I normally charge in pounds but can convert to your currency. You will always receive back two copies of the document - one with the track changes feature on, so you can see any edits, and a clean copy. I communicate with clients throughout the process, and I'm more than willing to work out payment schedules as needed if there are budget concerns. For full manuscripts, I do require a 25% deposit upfront. I'm more than willing to carry out a short trial to see if we're a good fit. 

All payments should be made through PayPal (or direct bank transfer, if UK based). Work will not commence until the scope of work is agreed to and a deposit is made, if required.
